Description
Flour or oil mills which have become silent, exodus of 90% of the population in a century, deserted medieval streets, forgotten rural chapels, Massoins has not escaped the decline of the agro-pastoral civilization which reached its apogee in the nineteenth century .
Its sunny soil dominates directly the course of the Var and the hills of gray marl called "on the back of elephant" alongside the terraces of olive trees and higher, the national forest of Massoins where mingle pubescent oaks and scots pines.
This "half season" hike aims at the plateau of the lake where no expanse of water can justify this curious toponym, but which offers the possibility of discovering the surrounding villages: Clans, Roussillon and La Tour-sur- Tinée in particular.
Note a magnificent holly wood on the trail of Sarzit which is colored red from the beginning of autumn.
