Description
Pleasant hike in the cornice above the long plain which borders the famous RD 6085 known as "route Napoléon", so named in memory of the passage of the emperor who made stop at the castle of Brondet in 1815.
Stretching from east to west and dominating the surrounding synclines, the Bauroux mountain has served as a shelter from the Neolithic age (caves at the foot of the rock bars) to more recent periods (Middle Ages), As evidenced by the historic site of Vieux-Séranon where many ruins of the ancient fortified village (12th - 13th century) are still visible.
The villages of Séranon and Caille bring to the passage their Provencal atmosphere with their houses aligned to the facades with the blinding limestone whiteness.
Note the striking contrast between the rocky and desert of Bauroux and its verdant ubac occupied by the vast wood of the Défens.
